PRESS RELEASE for our new location opening!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Montgomery Violins opens their new location in historic Oakwood!

John Montgomery, luthier to the string collections at the Smithsonian Museum and the Library of Congress, originally opened his shop in 1987 on Hillsborough Street in Raleigh. With the unprecedented growth and change of pace downtown coinciding with an opportunity to restore and renovate a historic property in Oakwood, the decision was made to move in 2020.

Local architecture firm MontgomeryChoi adapted the previous home turned office building to suit the violin maker and his team’s studio, shop, and historic instrument gallery with Greg Paul Builders expertly seeing their vision through construction. The new space features beautiful white walls, period-inspired lighting, and wall displays of instruments to choose from as well as a playing room and an upstairs studio to accommodate the three expert luthiers.

Open by appointment Tuesday-Saturday at 410 Morson Street selling finely crafted violins, cellos, and bows as well as specializing in repair and restoration.
